How this system works
Kelvin is the SI unit. Celsius is an offset of the same size degree; Fahrenheit and Rankine divide the ice–steam interval into 180 parts. Rankine is the absolute companion to Fahrenheit, still used in some US engineering texts.
Base unit: kelvin. Celsius is Metric; Fahrenheit is US customary.
